    The Military Dads program helps families build stronger and healthier relationships with their children, families, and support networks. Focused on parenting in the military context, Military Dads strives to enhance the safety and well-being of military families and children, which in turn also boosts operational readiness for military members. The programs design is informed by the CAF’s cultural shift initiative, and addresses stress factors, based on research and prevention strategies related to gender-based violence (GBV).

  • Research Based

    Military Dads is evidence-based and focuses on child-centered parenting theory, which is promoted through practical teaching. The program helps in developing an individualized family health and wellness plan, including enhancing the relationship with their children’s mother.The program establishes a network of Military peer dads for ongoing support in facing the unique family challenges as a CAF member.

  • Program Development

    The program was developed in partnership with the CFB Kingston Chaplain Service, Kingston MFRC, Trenton MFRC, and Dr. Katreena Scott.

    This diverse group of subject experts consists of:

  • The CAF & Military Dads

    The program has been piloted in Kingston and Trenton and is endorsed by 8 Wing Command and CFB Kingston Command. Based on the successful pilots, Military Dads is working towards establishing the program nationally.

Family Impacts

The program was developed as a preventive and psychoeducational initiative. It is aimed at military fathers seeking to enhance their connection and communication with their children and their partners while managing the stress associated with military-connected families. It’s designed for dedicated dads who want to become even better fathers.
